A New Normal: Travel 2021

Join me as we begin again- as we discover a new way to travel- a safer- more cautious way. May we appreciate every single day we have and not forget what isolation and fear and separation required of us.

July 20/21

Lilly and I left on July 20 and arrived within two hours of one another on 21st. I got into terminal 5 at 9:30- got through customs, reclaimed my luggage- took the free Heathrow Express to terminal 3 and only had to wait for her 20 minutes. We then took the Heathrow Express to London at Paddington and grabbed a cab to the hotel. Exhausted we forced ourselves to venture out. 7.5 miles of walking and subway travel later we are now exhausted and home ready for bed by 8pm.

Today we went to and toured Kensington Palace, The orangery (closed for tea which was disappoint)- went to Westminster and Buckingham Palace before stopping across from the stables for snack and drinks. Palace was amazing- the weather 70 degrees with a light breeze- perfect! Highlights at Kensington was the tribute garden to Diana filled with flowers (see below) and the snack at the amazing Ruebens Hotel across from the Queens Mew. Lovely place with a band and a to die for marble bathroom.

Back for free food at the Marriott these few notes, shower and bed! Tomorrow a new day- probably the Hop on Hop off bus to see all of London and go inside the Westminster Abbey. For now- goodnight!
