Team Washington arrived at around 10:30 am and were ready to go! They unpacked and cleaned up. Meanwhile George was still fighting the bureaucracy of two countries trying to get a new passport. Turns out he will only be able to get a temporary passport and before he can do anything needs a letter from Penn and a legal translation of that and another document! He will apparently be spending the day on this and we can only hope he is able to make it to Santorini with us in the morning rather than more Embassy work.
Team Washington and I head to the Plaka for lunch. We all enjoy an official Greek salad, I have stuffed peppers, Kerry has lamb and Karla chicken. We check out the underground ruins outside of the Acropolis Museum and go to the Plaka for shopping. We then check out the tomb of unknown soldiers but they are not changing the guard and 6 miles later return to the apartment to rest. Kerry is jazzed up and watches traffic on the balcony while Karla and I both nap.
George shows us at 4:00 and has still not accomplished the necessary requirements for his passport. He has the needed documents and translation but must go to two police stations in the morning. If the key approves the documents they are sent away for 3 days for processing. He will miss our ferry and can either catch another or fly to Santorini depending on the time. We are catching a cab for the port at 6:15- George called them for us and they will be waiting outside our apartment.
We head for a nice dinner nearby. Ollie I’ve included a food picture just for you! I had a great chicken dinner. Kerry got fried anchovies and Karla was brave enough to try- see if you think she liked it.
