Nederland

Denise, Debbie's close friend, confidant, counselor, therapist, and more, reconnoiter in Nederland. Great sharing, advice for next chapter! Relationships make life exciting, worth living! Like theater, secrets of the back stage reveal the drama. No pretense here, honesty prevails, private self becomes public. Love and grief are inseparable; one nurtures the other. Freedom at last!

Bear

Crowd gathers, police tape separates, eyes on tree. Downtown Estes Park, there he is, huge Bear, balancing between branches. Outdoor zoo, open space, humans surround, nowhere to run; officers, store owners, concerned citizens hold back onlookers. He wonders, “How did I get myself in this mess!” Observers agree. Most photographed mountain bear a star attraction.

Colleague Scores Perfect

Karla Washington, close friend, colleague, family medicine assistant professor, Hospice Caregiver Research Network team member, master gardener, sports fan, receives a perfect National Institute of Health score from a reviewer. Rare indeed, celebrations abound; caregivers to learn how to problem-solve as loved ones enter last stage. Palliative care practices enhanced in the family-patient setting. Hooray!

Rain

White, gray, black curling clouds pour over mountaintops. Mist fills air thunder echoes off rocks reverberating through valley raindrops follow. Pines, flowers, thirsty birds, animals, and grateful citizens look skyward. Grant writer scurries inside, naptime scrabble-player listens. First sign of rain cleanses roads, supports life, drops temperatures. Fragrant scents provide reward, breathe in; breathe out.
